Do you remember when the Internet wasn’t a giant pile of homogenous corporate ad-laden cowshit? I sure do! There was a golden age of Internet culture in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s when people were busy making websites for the hell of it. There were no “content creators” (gross) or “influencers” (grosser).
There was Geocities. There was Angelfire. There were thousands of amateur-coded websites with tacky animated GIF’s and Comic Sans and background images that made text all but illegible. And it was glorious.
Join me on a journey around the old edges of the Internet.
